Alan Fletcher Exhibition at Cube Gallery

I recently attended the Alan Fletcher exhibition at the Cube Gallery in Manchester. The exhibition displayed fifty years of work from the revolutionary graphic designer who they say set the bench mark for modern design. There are massive similarities in the work that he produced and the work that is produced in the present by modern designers. I believe that this can only be compliment to Fletcher's work. He set a very high standard for minimalistic design that strips design down to only its fundamental features.

I am finding that since the start of this project I am know questioning everything that I do and include in my designs - for instance why am I using a particular font, why that specific colour, why I am placing that line in that particular place. Although the opinion of good design is subjective, I am viewing each design in a different way know questioning its very purpose and function. I feel that design should have real depth in meaning and that it should serve a purpose instead of simply being visual stimulating which is still very important.
