The Remakes - Film Poster Shop

Final Thoughts

As this is my last project in education I really believe that I gave it everything I had. I believe that I have vastly improved in the past three years and I am incredibly proud of the work that I have produced at university. My final major hopefully will be testament to my efforts but I still wish I could have done more (Im never satisfied with my work). This project took me a while to get into because I wanted to make sure that I picked the right project for me, a project that would help me develop that one extra bit before I leave education. I believe that is has in many ways, I have a better understanding of concepts and better understand of minimalism in design. I used to think minimalism was a way of doing less work but in essence it can be harder. The concepts have to be 100% spot on otherwise the design fails. To me minilistic design is all about the concept and composition. This blog has been my best collective of research since I began university and I have really enjoyed posting my ideas, research and general thoughts about this project.

My final year at university was easily the best out of the three as I feel that I connected more with the lecturers and my fellow students. I really am proud of the work that I produced this year and I will be proud of whatever achievement I get at the end.

With just over two hours away from the deadline I am very excited about the future and attempting to become Graphic Designer in the industry.

Wish me luck.

The Remakes

Every poster design that I have done for my fmp that I am completely satisfied with... completely... nearly... I cant stop editing them.

Sneak Peak

I Just got my poster designs back from the printers and I am extremely happy with the outcome. I was so excited I decided to take a couple of snap shots for the blog. Each design is printed onto high quality recycled paper and is A3 in size.

Is the swan still there... need I say more.

"The Prisoner" Sleeve Design & Intro

Poster Remake for the legendary tv show starring Patrick McGoohan. My dad got me into this show when I was younger and truth be told I am still scared of rover... turns out the rover was just a weather balloon but rover is still the inspiration for this remake.

Screen Print Test

A screen print test for two of my completed designs, This is the first time I have done screen printing and I found the process really interesting. I found the technique interesting and feel that there is definitely something unique about this method of print compared to printing straight from a computer to a laser or inkjet.

Brandon Schaefer

www.seekandspeak.com

As I come to the end of my final major I have been trying really hard to keep producing research. I have found that by doing this I have kept such a long project fresh and exciting and I am still as enthusiastic as I was in the first few weeks of the project. I found myself still producing new and interesting ideas that I cant wait to try.

The latest designer that I have come across is Brandon Schaefer - this is a small selection of Brandon work that I find to be exceptionally well considered and designed.

Alan Fletcher Exhibition at Cube Gallery

I recently attended the Alan Fletcher exhibition at the Cube Gallery in Manchester. The exhibition displayed fifty years of work from the revolutionary graphic designer who they say set the bench mark for modern design. There are massive similarities in the work that he produced and the work that is produced in the present by modern designers. I believe that this can only be compliment to Fletcher's work. He set a very high standard for minimalistic design that strips design down to only its fundamental features.

I am finding that since the start of this project I am know questioning everything that I do and include in my designs - for instance why am I using a particular font, why that specific colour, why I am placing that line in that particular place. Although the opinion of good design is subjective, I am viewing each design in a different way know questioning its very purpose and function. I feel that design should have real depth in meaning and that it should serve a purpose instead of simply being visual stimulating which is still very important.
